I don't thnk the market place or any big studio would invest in a project as this. It was hard for them to convince studios to finance musicals-Chicago or Rent

Never seen this -- Big Love takes the opposite approach, as far as people actually sleeping together . . . . .

DJ- I was thinking more along the lines of a screw-ball comedy, not a musical but I see your point. Neither genre is exactly easily produced, then successfully sold to the public. Until Chicago, I would've thought musicals (in movies) were a thing of the past. But financing aside, are there any modern actors charming and talented enough to pull off a screw-ball comedy? A good one?

Erik- It certainly does!

blanco - of course he does you silly goose... * wispers* it's me. :p whahahaha

Loved this film and in my opinion...no, there aren't any modern day actors who could pull this off, as well as they did. They were great!!

I'm shocked SHOCKED by all of you. Such a wholesome film and look where we arrive at.

These comments made me laugh.

If you were to ask me who I go to when I want charm, I'd probably say Colin Firth. But the amazing thing about Grant is how he OOZES charm and yet can be totally fuckin' goofy. It's that whole "trained as an acrobat thing" if you ask me.

Nobody comes close. AT ALL.

barroom balls?? i am sure there are alot of balls at the bar!

Ellen- I'd have to agree 100%. I was just curious what others thought. Apparently for my efforts I've found out I'm a polygamist, so that's good to know.

Blanco- Sigh, you & your ball obsession. :)

Jude Law or Brad Pitt might could try to fit into that role, but would it work successfully, well, I'd have my doubts. I just thought of Ewan McGregor too, which has been in musicals and might be the closer to pull it off...

Those guys can't even hold a feeble, burned out candle to Cary Grant or James Stewart.
